Anacostia River Explorers: RiverSmart Educational Boat Tours
Join Anacostia River Explorers to learn about the Anacostia River’s history, wildlife, the environmental threats it faces, and the solutions helping it realize its full potential. These free, guided boat tours launch from a variety of locations up and down the Anacostia River, and are funded by the District’s disposable bag fee.
20 seats are available for ONLY girls registered in The First Tee of Greater Washington, DC LPGA-USGA Girls Golf program. Limited seating for adults.
Members will meet at the Aquatic Resources Education Center (AREC), 1900 Anacostia Drive, SE Washington, DC (next door to the Skating Pavilion). The river boat will launch at 2:30pm and will return to AREC by 4:30pm.

Here’s a chance for younger golfers to test their skills on the golf course. The Mini Mulligans Junior Tour Event, sponsored by the Mid-Atlantic PGA, is hosting this event at Rock Creek Park Golf Course on Friday, July 19, 2017. This event is open to children ages 6 years old to 9 years old.
Registration and check-in begins at 8:00am. Arrive one-hour before their tee time to register, warm-up and get ready to play. Tee times begin at 9:00am for each player. The tee time will be emailed to the parent 5 days prior to the event. An awards ceremony and lunch will begin at 12:00pm (noon). First 3 places in each division get medals and an invite to the Tour Championship later in the year.
This 6-Hole event costs $25 which includes lunch, practice balls and a fun tee gift for all participants. One parent is allowed to caddie for their junior golfer as all are walking during the tournament.
Notes to Remember: There is free parking at the golf course. Contestants need be aware that Rock Creek Park Golf Course does not offer a driving range, however they do have a putting green. Players shall take no more than 8 strokes before reaching the green on a hole. Once 8 strokes are reached, the player must pick up his/her ball and place it on the putting green. A player shall take no more than 4 putts per hole. Players will be playing from a modified tee located in the fairway for each hole. The golf course will be set up to allow the children to enjoy the tournament. Dress your child appropriately for the weather. Don’t forget a water bottle and snacks in your child’s golf bag.
