Young Professionals Council Golf-a-Thon
The main annual fundraising event put on by the Young Professionals Council is the GOLF-A-THON, held at Ft. Belvoir Golf Club since 2014. Since its inception, the GOLF-A-THON has raised over $50,000 to benefit The First Tee of Greater Washington, DC. The funds raised are dedicated to providing college scholarships (awarded to eligible participants through an application process), supporting various program locations and classes, and golf equipment for participants.
The 2018 GOLF-A-THON will once again take place at Ft. Belvoir Golf Club on Monday, June 25. If you have any questions or would like to participate, please do not hesitate to reach out to The First Tee Young Professionals at youngprofessionals@thefirstteedc.org
During the GOLF-A-THON, participants seek pledges and raise money by playing as many holes of golf as they can in a single day. The event is also highlighted by the Drive, Chip, and Putt competition for First Tee participants.

What are you planning to major in at school?
I am majoring in 3D Animation with a Minor in Visual Effects and Drawing.
What do you want to do after graduation?
I plan to start an animation career with Pixar, Dream Works or Disney. I also plan to pursue my other passion, golf, I would like to compete on the LPGA Tour.
What is your favorite memory of the First Tee?
My favorite memory of the First Tee was the mentoring I received from my instructors and the number of friends I have made all over the country. The First Tee introduced me to many life skills that I still use today. First Tee also helped me to develop a Go-To-Team which is made up of individuals that really care about me.
Who is your favorite sports team?
As a Junior Member of the Maryland State Golf Association, I assisted at the 2014 LPGA’s inaugural International Crown Golf Championship. This afforded me the unique opportunity to be up close with some of the top LPGA players in the world. I was able to observe them compete and took pictures and received autographs from them. The ladies on the USA International Crown Golf Team are my favorite sport’s team.
What is your favorite golf course?
My two favorite local golf courses are Congressional in Bethesda, Maryland, where I served as a Standing Bearer for Tiger Woods’ Quicken Loans golf tournaments and the other is Woodmore Country Club in Bowie, MD, where I served as a Standing Bearer at the Nationwide golf tournament at a junior golfer. However, my most favorite golf course is Pebble Beach. In 2014, I competed in Nature Valley’s First Tee Open and had the “Shot of the Day” on the Golf Channel, which was the highlight of my junior golf career.
What is your favorite movie?
My favorite movie is Disney’s “Dumbo” which was very personal and inspiring to me, because I too, while growing up was bullied by my peers. However, like Dumbo, I discovered a hidden talent in golf that changed my life from being a victim to becoming a mentor in inspiring others to believe in themselves.
