The most important question is how do we do what we do when we do it? Well, the answer is simple: our coaches. We have 25 Lead Coaches, trained to deliver The First Tee Life Skills Curriculum, across our territory here in the DMV and our work cannot happen at the golf course without them. They are the smiling faces you see each week, the givers of wisdom about the game of golf and life and all their frustrating nuances, but most importantly they are your constant mentors. Some of our coaches have been coaching The First Tee Life Skills Experience for just about 20 years. Coaches Adam Fishman and Martin Zadravec are our longest tenured coaches in Montgomery County and began there with The First Tee of Montgomery County. Coach George Dill is our oldest coach AND our longest tenured coach in the District of Columbia. He’s been coaching with The First Tee since July 16, 1999 which equals about 1/4 of his lifetime. How neat is that? We have Coach Tim Weaver out at Sterling Golf Club who is a retired Fairfax County PE Teacher and our very own National School Program (NSP) expert. And finally, we have Coach Ted Vactor, former Redskin and University of the District of Columbia Head Football Coach. These are just one fifth of our spectacularly dedicated coaches we have across the region. Over the last 20 years we have had the privilege of having some of the finest coaches impact and mentor our young people and we couldn’t be more thankful for their time and service.
