Northern Virginia. Now, just one of four territories in the service area of The First Tee of Greater Washington, DC. In 2014, it was the reason we graduated from Washington, DC to Greater Washington, DC.

We began the expansion into Northern Virginia with a very small program at Fort Belvoir Golf Club with just 22 kids enrolled in one class during the Spring session. By the summer of 2013, we had doubled our enrollment to 44 kids in two classes and continued to hold two classes at Ft. Belvoir in the fall of that year.

In 2014, we officially expanded our programming and brand into Northern Virginia. That year we would hold programming at Fort Belvoir Golf Club, Hilltop Golf Club, Sterling Golf Club, and Woody’s Golf Range. In 2015, we were fortunate to add Westpark Golf Course to our incredibly popular and growing programming in Northern Virginia.

In 2016, we were sad to see two of our program locations both Hilltop Golf Club and Woody’s Golf Range close. However, we were enthused to partner with two great organizations in the Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority and Fairfax County Park Authority.  In partnership with NOVA Regional Park Authority we started programming at Algonkian Golf Course and Pohick Bay Golf Course and with Fairfax County Park Authority we began programming at Laurel Hill Golf Club. We also added Dulles Golf Center to our list of program locations in Northern Virginia to total to seven across Fairfax and Loudon Counties.

In 2017, we were, again, sad to see Westpark Golf Course close; however, we added a nice little Par-3 location just off I-66 at Oak Marr Golf Complex.

In just six years of programming in Northern Virginia we have grown tremendously. In 2018, we served about 500 participants in that part of our territory, alone.

We’re pretty happy that in 2014 we were lucky enough to become The First Tee of Greater Washington, DC, because without Northern Virginia, our story wouldn’t be as great.
