Alumni. The successes of our program. The reason we continue to pursue our mission each and every day. Our alumni have progressed through the program from the PLAYer Level through the Eagle/Ace Levels. They have shown the dedication it takes to succeed at the game of golf, attended classes and completed certification. We have incredibly successful alumni, but we want to showcase just a few.
Lennard Long played collegiate golf at Morehouse College and graduated in May. He was our first participant, ever, to be selected to play at Pebble Beach for what was formerly the Nature Valley Open and what is now the PURE Insurance Championship Impacting The First Tee. Madison King, a former The First Tee Outstanding Participant, will be attending The Naval Academy in the fall. Micaa Thomas plays golf at The Savannah College of Art and Design and also played at Pebble Beach. Lennard and Micaa are just two of six collegiate golfers to participate in the program.
Among the accomplishments of our alumni both on and off the golf course, they always seem to come back. Over the last two summers, we have had alumni complete summer internships with us! Drew White, who attended both the Life Skills & Leadership Academy and played at Pebble Beach in The First Tee Nature Valley Open, joined us last summer. Drew spent the last two years at Northern Virginia Community College and will attend George Mason University in the fall. This summer we have Victor Fuentes joining us. He is a Chick Evans Scholarship Recipient who is a rising sophomore at The Pennsylvania State University and attended Sankaty Head Caddy Camp for three summers while in our Life Skills Experience program.
Needless to say, we are proud of our alumni and all that they have accomplished both on and off the golf course. They are the successes or our program and we are incredibly lucky to call them ours.
