20 Posts for 20 Years Series – Post #9
The First Tee National School Program (NSP) is the delivery channel of our program that reaches the largest number of children in the Greater Washington, DC area. NSP is a program that is delivered in elementary school Physical Education classes. The young people receive instruction on the game of golf and the core values, but through the use of plastic clubs, tennis balls and velcro targets.
Right now, you’re probably wondering how do we put our program in the schools? Through the partnerships of so many wonderful people in the local school systems. We have been fortunate enough to partner with District of Columbia Public Schools from the very beginning, Fairfax County PS, Loudon County PS, Alexandria City PS, Arlington County PS, Montgomery County PS, and most recently Prince George’s County PS. We cannot deliver NSP curriculum without the countless educators advocating for our mission and the healthy life choices it promotes.
Now, can you remember the number at the beginning of this post? Don’t look… We will leave you with one statistic. Since its inception in 2011, the National School Program has impacted roughly 454,955 in the Greater Washington, DC metropolitan area. Make sure to check back in 20 years to see if the number has tripled.
